Taikia Waititi, the New Zealand Director of many rave reaping projects, Jojo Rabbit (2019) Thor:Raganok (2017), Avengers (2019) , Moana (2016) and also the success manga series of 2019, Akira. The animated series is now on it way to Live-action scheduled for May 2021 but there maybe another Director in the chair.

The Warner’s Bros project has close eyes from Waititi’s fan base and those involved in anime binging. While the amines original creator is down for the Waikiki Live-Action there’s wonder of how, when and if waiki will be in for this one since he has two other projects in progress.

Akiras signed on Director told Variety:

“We had to keep pushing the dates, and it encroached on the Thor dates, which were immovable,” “So Akiraended up shifting two years down the track.”

When asked if the film was still a possibility, he said,

“I think eventually it will happen. I’m just not sure if I’ll be doing it.”

There’s been several other directors that were said to be attached to the project over the years, before Waiki signed on in 2017. Some of the names in the mix: Stephen Norrington, Ruairi Robinson, Allen and Albert Hughes and Jaume Collet-Serra.

Gives us time to read this six gigantic books Waititi warned us about.
