The Box Office hit Anaconda is said to be making its way back to the screens. The franchise is looking to get a reboot with the screenwriter of Divergent, Evan Daugherty holding the pen.

The Who, What, When, Where deets of the project haven’t been announced as of yet but we can remember what it was. The 1997 movie starred Jennifer Lopez as a film marker Terrie Flores, who embarked on a search for a forgotten tribe deep in Amazon Jungle for a documentary. Her cameraman (Ice Cube) and anthropologist (Eric Stoltz) are along for the long journey when they come across Paul (Jon Voight) who claims stranded on a riverbank. Paul’s looking for a legendary anaconda that’s worth a fortune and figures he can use the film group to help him hunt. Hijacking the expedition for his own benefit, turning the hunters into the hunted as the crew fight for their lives against the record-massive green creature.

The Sony film branched off into a franchise including the 2004 sequel Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid, two direct-to-video sequels Anaconda 3: Offspring starring David Hasselhoff and Anacondas: Trail of Blood and a horror comedy crossover with 2015’s “Lake Placid vs. Anaconda” with the Lake Placid franchise.
